Salary Range: $37,232-$41,889 (179 day position)
$47,840-$$53,824 (230 day position)
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED;
Education / Experience in the Health Field
First aid and CPR card must be obtained within three months from initial hire date.
Ability to speak Spanish desirable.
Skills/Aptitudes:
Good organizational ability; good written and oral communication skills; ability to maintain high level of professionalism and confidentiality regarding students, staff, parents, and school matters.
Essential Job Responsibilities of Health Assistant:
- Works cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, and administrators.

- Maintains and updates school health records and information.
- Reviews immunization forms and contacts parents as necessary.
- Assists with routine vision, hearing, height and weight screening and other screenings as required.
- Assists with the monitoring of students per individualized health care plan.
- Implements aspects of nursing plan of care, commensurate with training and competency.
- Perform student-specific delegated nursing procedures and treatments in accordance with the individualized health plan.
- Assists with student self-administration of medications in accordance with school district medication policy.
- Assists with the implementation of policies and procedures regarding the control of communicable diseases in schools.
- Performs basic first aid and CPR, as needed.
- Assists with the maintenance of student health records, including immunization records, and shares relevant information with District Nurses.
- Inventories and maintains first aid equipment, kits and supplies needed for health office.
- Ensures proper and safe use of facilities, equipment and supplies.
- Maintains a clean, organized and orderly health room environment.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) with diverse populations, including students, parents, co-workers and supervisor(s).
- Displays a desire to work with students and responds to students as individuals.
- Reports safety hazards and concerns promptly.
- Shares relevant information with District Nurses.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
